Make a Statement with Black Trim

So I've just started working on a new design for a client who's house is very colonial, the problem is the client likes industrial design. So, in order to create a cohesive design I thought a good way to make the house seem a little less "vanilla" would be to paint the trim black throughout. This image is a great example of how painting trim black can make such a statement.

One tip I have learned about painting trim black is to paint it in 2-3 coats of matte black paint and then apply a clear coat of polyurethane in your desired sheen over top. This will give the trim more depth & provides a much richer look.
